About

The Moses Tladi Charitable Foundation is a non-profit organization. It's  aim is to "make poverty  in rural communities history through education and skilling future generations".

The foundation was established in honour of Moses Tladi, a South African artist known for his depictions of landscapes and rural life in South Africa. In the apartheid era, as a Black man, his works were exhibited in galleries he was not allowed to enter. During his long illness he chose to risk living alone  to enable his wife to take a residential job in order to support their children through school and collage. The foundation seeks to carry on Tladi's legacy by promoting social  change and to skilling future generations.

The Moses Tladi Charitable Foundation is run by a team of volunteers who are committed to improving the lives of underprivileged children in South Africa. The foundation relies on donations and support from individuals and organizations to fund its programs and initiatives

Project

In 2018 the Principal of Lobethal Primary school, Alfred Mangoato, asked for assistance to introduce IT to the learners. He was concerned that in the fast-developing digital world they were being left behind. Some of the learners came from homes with no phone, television, or computer of any kind. To them a mobile phone was a novelty.

In response to MTCF's appeal, Redmaids Girls' Junior School in the U.K. sent 10 Tablets to Lobethal Primary School.  Also, their teachers were keen to work with those at Lobethal Primary.

In 2023 there are 74 learners at Lobethal Primary School. More tablets are needed to reduce the number of children sharing a device.

There are five primary schools and two secondary schools in Ga-Phaahla villages. We need help to extend our work to all schools in this area, where disadvantaged children have no opportunity to gain digital skills, and no access visual arts.

March 2023

In March 2023 MTCF provided the first 10 of 30 Tablets to Ngwanamashile primary school in Sekabing village, Marishane.

Children attending Ngwanamashile Primary school, like those at Lobethal Primary school come from underprivileged homes. Their teachers, like others in the region, are keen to equip them with digital skills necessary for life in the 21st Century. So, in March MTFC started sending them tablets.

2022

In April 2022 we started funding a support teacher post to enable development of ICT at Lobethal Primary school in Magukubu village. Also, to support communication between Lobethal Primary school and Remaids’ Girls school.

Due to shortage of teachers, the children at at the school were not benefiting from use of the donated tablets.. Tladi Small from MTCF, volunteered facilitation of the first virtual meetings between teachers at the Redmaids’ and Lobethal schools

2021

We had WIFI installed at Lobethal primary school, Magukubu village, Ga-Phaahla.  That enabled the children to use Tablets donated by Redmaids’ Girls Junior School, UK. Also, teachers are able to communicate and share teaching ideas and support.
